Lark on show!

Here we are again at the Life in Style gift fair – our tenth show, I believe!  To celebrate our new Spring ranges we filled the Lark stand with home-grown veggies,  fresh flowers,  eggs from Tracy’s chooks, pretty paper fans, strawberry jam, cakes and my new Beg bicycle, all ready for a picnic in the country!

The new giant paper baubles from Paper Joy look amazing!

And we filled one wall with our best china (ahem) paper plates! Lovely!

Lots o' friends popped in today, the first day of the fair, including Bee from Little Beehive, whose new super-sweet lunch boxes have been very popular! (thanks for the yummy biccies, Bee!). They'll be available in our store next week.

Three more days to go! Good job we have our amazing Lark team of Dean, Ashleigh and Kylie on hand!

And of course, Life in Style is also where we meet with some of our favourite Australian brands to bring the BEST goodies for the new season to Lark for you. With 7 design fairs to attend over the next 6 weeks (in 4 countries), we are thrilled to have already unearthed some real treasures so close to home. Here's a sneaky peek just for you, the full reveal will come in September...

Oooh! New stuff! See you soon xx

The Lark Shop in Daylesford

Our Daylesford store is nearly 3 years old, can you believe it? During that time we have doubled the size of the store, welcomed so many lovely customers and been lucky enough to feature in many design blogs and magazines.

If you haven't visited our store yet, Autumn/Winter is THE perfect time, as Daylesford is at its best and prettiest, with leafy red trees, walks by the lake, log fires, and hearty meals in country pubs.

We've recently made a lot of changes in the store and it is bursting at the seams with new products. Caroline and Daisy are doing a lovely job of displaying all our Lark goodies in the shop.

And we have lots of yummy treats for you to take home from your trip to the country!

Come and visit us soon! We're at 4a Duke Street, open 10-4 every Saturday and Sunday!x

End of an era

This weekend the Lark House in Daylesford will host its last guests before it closes for good. On Monday we'll begin the process of moving out all of our collections and furniture before handing the keys to the new owners.

We feel kind of sad because this was our family home for five years, our boys grew from tiny pre-schoolers to big kids in this house and it holds so many memories. We turned it from an un-loved jumble of rooms into an awesome and pretty home, just as it deserved.

But life has to move on, and the little brick house we have been living in for the past year while opening up the Lark House to guests is just not very practical or loveable, so by selling the Lark House we've been able to buy a new family home in Ballarat - a larger town 30 minutes from Daylesford but still in the country and near to the bigger schools and facilities that we need these days.

The new house does not require the total renovation that the Daylesford house did but we are still planning to make it our own with new paint and a few other changes. It has 'good bones', a grand appearance, high ceilings, a giant oak tree and much loveliness. Most of all it has the space we need for our growing-up family!

So while we are sad to be leaving our Daylesford home, we are excited about being in a comfortable family home once again!

Thank you to all of the guests who stayed at the Lark House this past year, we have loved having you visit and reading your sweet comments in the visitor book.

And of course, the Lark Shop in Daylesford will remain open every weekend in Duke Street. We have just given it a makeover and filled it with the new season products so please come and visit us one weekend!

Happy Easter!

How's your Easter been? We've been pretty busy: Good Friday was spent setting up our garage sale then a fish 'n' chippy supper with our Daylesford friends. Saturday was the sale (a big success! but exhausting!) and we came home and collapsed in front of a movie with yummy food prepared by our kind friend Pat. Sunday we played a sneaky trick on the kids (heh heh), they got up early and went hunting round the garden for eggs but didn't find any. In fact, the Easter bunny had been to our new house (we move in two weeks) so we hopped over there and found a whole basketful in the garden! Later we packed a picnic and went for our annual family day out at the Bendigo Easter parade (Paul has been going since he was a tiny boy), we took our best friends along this time, and all the kids loved seeing the world's longest Chinese dragon, pretty impressive! Stopped off on the way home at our fave Mexican restaurant, so there was no need to cook. Today we are doing NOTHING! Well, we are tidying the house and starting to pack a few things for the move, but nothing that involves any major effort. Yeah! I like that. We don't even have to go to the supermarket as we are stocked up with Pat's soup and lots of chocolate. I hope you are taking some time out today too! x

Details of the Lark Sale in Daylesford this Saturday (7 April)

OK so it's at 4a Duke St, next door to the Lark Shop in Daylesford. Behind the MS op shop. You can find a map HERE.

Parking is plentiful in Duke St itself, and also in the car park of the Rex shopping centre next door on Duke St.

The doors will open at 9am, and the sale will end when we have sold most of the stuff.

The Lark Shop will also be open from 9am-4pm with lots of great gifts and homewares in store.

The Grand Garage Sale consists of 4 sections:

1. The Lark Sample Sale (this section shown in the photo above), with new, end-of-line, sample and slightly damaged goods. You'll find stacks of stuff from 50 cents to $30 (most is around $5-$10), including party goods, Belle and Boo prints, Rabbit Night Lights, Rex kitchen goods, pretty gift wrap (for 50 cents!), Dumpling Dynasty, a pile of Cath Kidston tea towels, toys, bags, gifts, ooh, way to much to mention!

2. Our vintage goodies sale, from my personal stash and the Lark Guest House - this includes lots and lots of vintage fabrics and linens, crochet blankets, old tins, furniture and home wares, vintage toys and games, vintage school maps, giant shop signs, old children's books etc etc...

3. Bric-a-brac: the usual family bits and pieces, IKEA frames, shelves and units, craft supplies, shop fittings including mannequins, card racks, display stuff, work benches, and random guy stuff that I have no clue about.

4. The Crafty Squirrel: My friend Morgan will also be selling vintage wares, haberdashery and crafty things, and cute bric-a-brac, from her shop.

On the day, we can only take cash as there are no eftpos facilities in the sale building. There are plenty of cashpoints in Daylesford. We wont be able to hold goods for you while you go to the bank, so do bring plenty of cash just in case.

We'll be putting out more stock throughout the day, so don't feel that you need to get there as soon as it opens.

We are expecting it to be a totally awesome and fun day - there are some super bargains to be had, whether you're coming because you love Lark, vintage stuff, craft or preferably all three!!

Hopw to see you on saturday! The photos below are a small preview of the Lark sample sale section that we set up today, I will post photos of the other sections tomorrow and Friday.
